As a company with global operations, we aim to be a trustworthy partner for our employees, our worldwide supplier network, and society at large. In order to achieve this, we pool all of the forces available to us and are committed to focusing on diversity within the company, which we see as a prerequisite for our capacity to innovate. We provide a framework for this by offering family-friendly working conditions and promoting mixed-age teams. The relationship we have with our suppliers is also founded on trust and a commitment to promoting responsible behavior throughout our entire network. As part of society, we do our bit through long-standing cooperation initiatives with aid organizations and active employee engagement — joining forces to create prospects for people in crisis.

THE POWER OF
DIVERSITY

As part of the TRATON GROUP, we are aiming to become a Global Champion in the commercial vehicle and transportation industry. Our ability to pool all of the forces available to us and use differences to our advantage is an aspect that we see as a prerequisite for achieving this. After all, there is one fundamental principle that applies to more than just our products: together, we can make a big difference.

Plurality and inclusion are key factors underlying this objective. We benefit from an environment that puts a culture of respect and tolerance into practice in all areas of our company. It forms the basis for our ability to pick up on and acknowledge different outlooks and ideas, and to promote them in a targeted manner.

One key component of this concept is our Skill Capture Labs training concept that all MAN managers have to complete. The training sessions are designed to raise awareness among the participants of just how important diversity is within the company as a crucial factor in our corporate success. The participants learn methods allowing them to strengthen plurality and inclusion in their day-to-day work. MAN joined the Diversity Charter initiative in early 2017 to underscore our commitment in this area.

GROWING TOGETHER
THROUGH DIGITAL
LEARNING

At MAN, we have every faith in the huge potential of our employees. We want to work with them to make ourselves fit to tackle the challenges of today and tomorrow. This also means taking on new tasks day in, day out as digitalization and Industry 4.0 continue to change our working environments.

In the quest to master this challenge, we are promoting targeted training measures and also making the most of new forms of learning. One example is the new digital learning platform “Pluralsight,” which offers our employees more than 7,000 courses in a total of eight different areas — from software development to data analysis and information security.

Around 1,300 experts provide learners with high-quality specialist knowledge in a multimedia-based environment that is easy to use and is tailored to suit the needs of the employee concerned, for example thanks to a personalized landing page, skill- and role-based course suggestions, and needs-based learning units at three different levels. The platform is being expanded to feature new content on an ongoing basis, providing our employees with an extensive range of learning opportunities that can be used wherever and whenever suits them best.

STRENGTHENING
SUSTAINABLE
SUPPLY CHAINS

MAN wants to ensure that its commitment to sustainability extends beyond its own corporate boundaries. This is why sustainability requirements are a firm feature of our supplier relationships based on our three-pronged approach: the aim is to avoid negative effects from the outset (prevent), pick up on any potential problems (detect), and be able to take immediate action (react).

This creates a framework in which we can establish sustainable supply chains, respect human rights, and combat corruption.

A DIFFERENCE
WORLDWIDE

Even beyond our core business, we show our commitment to social issues in various projects at national and international level. Alongside our action to promote social startups or create vocational training opportunities for refugees, our employees are at the forefront in their commitment to long-standing charitable projects. In 2019, they spent a total of over 2,500 hours on 20 different projects. Many employees are involved in charitable projects on a voluntary basis, also in cooperation with the Munich Child Protection League (Kinderschutz München), SOS Children’s Villages, and the Bavarian nature conservation association (Bund Naturschutz in Bayern).

MAN Truck & Bus supports social startups in the transportation sector with the MAN Impact Accelerator program, which was launched in 2017. The focus is on solutions to global challenges such as population growth and urbanization. MAN is organizing the program in collaboration with the Yunus Social Business Initiative launched by Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus. MAN’s approach involves sending its own young talents to support the young entrepreneurs in social corporate projects by contributing their specialist expertise, including on location. The third round of the support program will run until mid-2020.
